Keep Creating.

Keep creating.

There are no kingdoms to inherit.

No planet to be saved.

No prizes or trophies to be awarded.

Only the act of self-satisfaction.

Of self-application.

Knowing that you have done your best.

That at least you have tried, if sometimes in vain.

To do something.

Rather than nothing.

On Genius

There is no genius as Corbusier implied. There is only steady, consistent, applied effort through diligence, insight, application and passion towards the expression of ideas in the most thoughtful and original attempt to capture them.

Marcus D. Niski, as taken from my writer’s notebook, 4 May 2020, [MN]

Nothing exists until or unless it is observed. An artist is making something exist by observing it. And his hope for other people is that they will also make it exist by observing it. I call it ‘creative observation.’ Creative viewing.

– William S. Burroughs

What is important, it seems to me, is not so much to defend a culture whose existence has never kept a man from going hungry, as to extract, from what is called culture, ideas whose compelling force is identical to that of hunger.

 – Antonin Artaud

[As quoted in Paul Auster’s The Art of Hunger, Sun & Moon Press, Los Angeles, 1992]

“There is no truth. There’s only action, action obeying a million different impulses, ephemeral action, action subjected to every possible imaginable contingency and contradiction. Life.”

– Blaise Cendrars
